JUNG CLEVELAND TO WELCOME ANALYST AND AUTHOR LIONEL CORBETT, M.D. FOR MARCH LECTURE, WORKSHOP

Renowned Jungian Analyst and Author to Discuss
Analytical Psychology as a Possible New Religion

CLEVELAND, Feb. 23, 2012 – Dr. Lionel Corbett, Jungian Analyst, psychiatrist, author and professor, will explore psychologist Carl Jung’s introspective search for his soul as a possible model for a new religion during a lecture and workshop on March 16 and 17, sponsored by Jung Cleveland.

Drawing from Jung’s belief that all perception begins with introspection, Corbett’s Friday lecture, titled “Jung in Dialogue with the Soul: Is Analytical Psychology a New Religion?” will explore Jung’s search for his soul as recorded his principal work, The Red Book, and the revelations Jung experienced. Corbett will discuss whether analytical psychology, which is derived from Jung’s work, should serve as a basis for a religion, what it would mean for society and psychotherapy, and how it would compare to traditional religions.

Corbett also will teach a Saturday workshop called “Depth Psychology as a Spiritual Practice.” Using Jung’s approach to religion and spirituality, Corbett will lead participants in search of spiritual direction derived from the modern practice of unconscious depth psychology.

Both events are open to the public, and Jung Cleveland will offer continuing education units (CEUs) for educators, social workers and other professionals.

The lecture will be given on Friday, March 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church of Cleveland, located at 21600 Shaker Blvd, Shaker Heights, Ohio, 44122. The workshop will take place on Saturday, March 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost to attend the lecture is $25 for members and $30 for non-members of Jung Cleveland, and the cost to attend the workshop is $85 for members and $95 for non-members. Student pricing is just $5 to attend the lecture and $10 to attend the workshop with a valid school I.D. Special pricing is available for senior citizens. Pre-registration is strongly advised.
